WELCOME TO Katz of the Day
Hi, I’m Michael J. Katz. Welcome to my site, a home for writers, photographers, filmmakers, music lovers and anglers of all persuasions. I’ve been wading in the arts for over thirty years now, and offer these perspectives as commentary to go along with the release of classic and new material.
My acclaimed comic mystery trilogy is being released on E-Books, starting with Murder Off The Glass, where I introduced basketball announcer Andy Sussman, attorney Susie Ettinger and Murray Glick, a detective who works out of the Northbrook Court shopping mall outside Chicago. The sequels, Last Dance In Redondo Beach, and The Big Freeze, are now available as well. There will be new fiction, some short stories and commentary on the literary scene.
I’ll also be following the release of the independent feature film I wrote and co-produced, Remembering Phil, directed by my friend Brian Smith and starring Nick Turturro, Dan Castellaneta, Joanne Kelly and Christina Murphy. We’ll have amusing insights on the indie film biz, and updates on our principal actors and producing team.
But wait — there’s MORE! I’ve been photographing the natural scene for the past three decades, winning several awards and exhibiting in LA and the West. Besides linking to my photo website, I’ll be providing observations on photography in the digital age, as well as insights into exhibiting and collecting.
I’ve also been a jazz critic for the past four years, appearing in Don Heckman’s International Review of Music. I’ll be sharing those reviews with you, as well as adding my observations on jazz, blues, bluegrass, and my experiences producing our soundtrack album to Remembering Phil.
And yes, I’ll be roll casting a few angling observations your way as well.
I’ll try and round up some interesting guest bloggers from time to time, just in case my own voice needs a rest.
So take take a look around, check out our various portals and come back often!

Your writing is so good, it is like experiencing a topic without having experienced it.
